mywayofhelping: Game sprite (Avoid)

On things we have little to no evidence about...

So the creators of Golden Sun once again left us with the eternal question of "what the hell is Alex doing?" Even more so eternal than the first time since we had an answer by game two.

But that was apparently phase one. What does he want now? Why is he connected to the Tuaparang? What is the point of those Psynergy Vortexes which they seem to be connected to?

Basically, I think Alex is trying to become truly all-powerful now. He's just missing a few things. Tuaparang has a huge military, so that may be one reason for the alliance. Another could be his interest in Dark Psynergy. That is another type of power, after all, and I can't see why he'd ignore. I'm honestly not sure why he wanted the Apollo Lens fired (since that seemed to be his true goal for Dark Dawn), but all that power of light it created probably has something to do with it.

As for the vortexes, I think that Alex is trying to take advantage of them to get the powers he missed. The Wise One flat-out told him some of the power was "with Isaac". And at the end, we saw a vortex near the cabin. Maybe Alex has a way to collect the powers sucked in by the vortexes and use them himself? It would explain why a machine was seen underneath the one in Konpa Cave when before at Carver's Camp, there was nothing of the sort.

UPDATE ca. Fall 2013

OKAY so while working on a script for Dark Dawn, I stumbled across this line-

Isaac: I cannot leave my post here, since we now believe that someone may be targeting the Wise One. This person has an absolute hatred of the Wise One. Why, we’ll never know. But I must stop him- at any cost.

Glad to say I now have a MUCH better idea of what Alex is up to. I still hold that he's after Isaac and/or the power he has, but apparently he does hold a huge grudge against the Wise One and is trying to go after him. It's probably just so he can prove himself as superior to him after he owned him really.

It does make me wonder how Isaac knows this, though. Has he already tried a few attacks? If so, what? And how has he not pieced together who it is? I know they thought he was dead but...SERIOUSLY. He was willing to appear to the children but not to Isaac or Garet at the very least. So far.
